Mental Health First Aid Adult (MHFAider)

This course enables individuals to gain the essential knowledge, skills and awareness to identify the signs of people who may be experiencing poor mental health - give them reassurance to approach those suffering and provide them with the most appropriate support. Completing MHFA will ensure individuals can carry out their role effectively and confidentially.

By the end of this course, the learner will understand:

• How to recognise individuals that may be experiencing poor mental health
• The importance of early intervention and providing individuals with first-level support
• How to motivate individuals to reach out to obtain professional help and support
• The role of a MHFA and understand the importance of boundaries and confidentiality
• How to actively listen and show empathy
• The importance of own self-care within the role
• How to engage in sensitive conversation appropriately using correct language and terminology

After completing this course, along with a digital certificate as a MHFAider and monthly newsletters, we will ensure the individuals come away with an array of apparatus so they can continue their journey in MHFA with the upmost confidence. We will provide a digital manual ready for them to refer to whenever needed. There will be an option to join the Association of Mental Health First Aiders which gives exclusive access to a wide range of resources including a 24/7 text support service, access to the MHFA England Online Learning Hub, access to the MHFAider Support App, quarterly webinars and insights to real life situations with people sharing their experiences of mental health conditions.
