Level 2 Manual Handling
This course enables individuals to attain the knowledge on reducing the risk of injury and practical competencies required to ensure safe manual handling practices.
The content of the qualification meets the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 and the Health and Safety (miscellaneous amendments) Regulations 2002. The course is mapped to the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and considers guidance from the HSE Guidance on Manual Handling (L23). Wider standards considered within course mapping include the National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).
By the end of this course, the learner will understand:
- How to identify manual handling hazards
- How to assess and mitigate risks
- How to apply proper manual handling techniques
- How to reduce the need for manual handling where possible
- Their roles and responsibilities for maintaining safe practices and ensuring this complies with the Health and Safety at Work Act
- Safe lifting techniques and alternatives
