Level 2 Infection Control

This course enables individuals who work within an early years setting to understand infection control. 

The course is mapped to the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, Public Health England (PHE) Guidance on Infection Control, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework (2021) and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002. Wider mapping includes The Health Protection (Notification) Regulations 2010, Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006, Department for Education (DfE) Guidance on Health Protection in Schools and Other Childcare Facilities, National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Skills for Health Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF).

By the end of this course, the learner will understand:

• The spread of infection
• Own and others' roles and responsibilities in the prevention and control of infections 
• Legislation and policies relating to prevention and control of infections
• Systems and procedures relating to the prevention and control of infections
• The importance of risk assessment in relation to the prevention and control of infections
• The importance of using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the prevention and control of infections
• The importance of good personal hygiene in the prevention and control of infections
