Level 2 Basic Life Support Inc Automated External Defibrillator

This course enables individuals to attain the knowledge and practical competencies required to deal with a range of workplace first aid solutions.

Learners gaining this qualification will know that cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation form an essential part of the chain of survival. The topics covered are regarded by Skills for Health as being important in maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation. The qualification means learners should be able to safely and effectively use an automated external defibrillation machine.

The course is mapped to the Resus Council UK guidelines and European Resuscitation Council (ERC) Guidelines. Course mapping includes the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, Skills for Health Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF), National Occupational Standards (NOS) and the standards set out by RQF. The course includes the latest evidence-based resuscitation techniques as per Resus Council UK guidelines. Wider mapping includes the First Aid Award Body Forum (FAAOF) Standards.

By the end of this course, the learner will understand:

• How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
• How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
• How to safely use an automated external defibrillator
• How to safely use an automated external defibrillator
