This course will reduce the risk of accidents in the workplace caused by abrasive wheel injuries, which have accounted for an increasing number of fatalities and serious injuries in recent years. You will learn how to label, store, handle and transport abrasive wheels together with sound mounting techniques.
The course enables individuals to effectively comply with current legislation including the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, Health and Safety at Work Etc 1974, BS EN 12413, HSG17, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) 2002 and Risk Assessment standards.
By the end of this course, the learner will understand:
- The law and standards relating to abrasive wheels
- Injury types, causes and costs to the business
- Employer and employee responsibility
- Correct mounting of wheels
- Appropriate PPE
- Safe use of work equipment and diamond wheels
